Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Advises physicians on formulary medications and cost-effective and innovative therapies

  • Answers pharmaceutical questions from patients and staff

  • Manage SNF case load performing monthly/quarterly chart review as required by state law; Attend Quality Assurance (QA) meetings and provide QA reports.

  • Perform medication cart reviews quarterly/upon request

  • Perform medication pass audits upon request

  • Works with Director of Nursing (DON), physician, Medical Director in performing medication regimen reviews to make specific recommendations that will improve patient outcomes in a cost effective and clinically prudent manner.

  • Provides clinical expertise by responding to medication-related questions and concerns initiated by DONs, Administrators, and facility nursing and medical staff.

  • Works with Nursing Home Administrator, DON and Nursing Staff to review facility practices to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations and standards for the specific long-term care or other practice setting.

  • Acts as liaison between Community Pharmacy and facilities to maintain good business relationships and resolve problems in a prompt manner to retain facilities and acquire new business.

  • Works with facility Nursing Staff in providing In-Service Training and education on a variety of medication-related topics, e.g., nursing topics, medications, disease state management, etc.

  • Works with facility to ensure resident database is complete and provides management monthly reporting in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Conduct Executive Reviews and other customer meetings as required.

  • Owns issue resolution and communicate early warning signs of potential issues.

  • Maintains a strong knowledge of current clinical pharmacy practice and CMS regulations.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Registered Pharmacist in the state of Nebraska

  • One to two years of experience preferred

  • Knowledge of: pharmaceutical chemistry and manufacturing methods; drugs, chemicals, and pharmaceutical supplies required in the operation of a pharmacy; state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to legal operation of a pharmacy; medical record keeping requirements and procedures; the use and dispensing of narcotics and poisons

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills required

  • Must work closely with consultant pharmacist team and nurse managers

  • Must be friendly and outgoing and like meeting new people

  • Must be willing to work as a team

  • Must be organized and self-motivated

  • Must provide excellent customer service to facilities

  • Must be able to actively contribute to a positive team environment

  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to handle multiple tasks, remain focused, and work independently

  • Must be detail oriented and a problem solver

  • Proficient computer skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Superior time-management skills and ability to deal with changing priorities and interruptions

  • Strict attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

  • Superior customer service skills and high level of confidentiality

    This position requires travel to facilities within a radius of 3.0 hours around Scottsbluff/Gering, Nebraska.  Overnight stays are potential.  Must have reliable vehicle for travel.  (Mileage will be reimbursed.) 

    Position hours can be set between 8:00 am – 6:00 pm., Monday through Friday.  Flexibility is a must.


    You must be reliable and have a solid work history to be seriously considered for the position.  A completed pre-employment drug screen and background check will be conducted.
